Issaquah School District EP&O Levy Vote

Endorsed by IVE PTA at the 9/24/19 General Meeting

The Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy that was on the February 11, 2020 ballot has been approved by 61.5% of voters. This levy will replace an expiring two-year levy passed by voters in 2018. Visit for more information.

The Washington State PTA legislative platform is a two-year platform to mirror the Washington state legislative cycle. On the even-numbered years, the new platform is voted on by members at the legislative assembly in the fall. The top five issues become our short-term platform and consist of our priority issues when advocating throughout the year. Other issues are placed on an “also supported” list. During the odd-numbered years, members vote to amend current issues or to add new, emerging issues to the also supported list.

The Top 5 Legislative Priorities for 2019-20 are:

  • Social Emotional Learning
  • School Construction and Simple Majority for Bonds
  • Prevent Gun Violence
  • Strategies to Address Teacher Shortage
  • Strategic K-12 Investments to Close Gaps

WSPTA Advocacy Platform Submissions Now Being Accepted

Any PTA member is encouraged to submit an issue, resolution, or principle that addresses concerns that affect children on a state-wide level. As a grassroots association WSPTA relies on members to provide the priorities that will be advocated for at the state-level and within our communities. Learn more about WSPTA legislative priorities here and the history of advocacy efforts here.
The current legislative issue platform will be replaced at the 2020 Legislative Assembly. Members will adopt a new Top 5 platform including the additional issues that will comprise the "also supported" list.

National PTA Position Statements are official documents outlining the opinion, will, or intent of the association to address national problems, situations, or concerns that affect children and youth and require national action to seek resolution on the issue. National PTA has adopted hundreds of position statements on a wide variety of national education, health, and safety issues since its first convention in 1897.
